Check the monitor's input and connect it directly to a video output on your PC if possible. Press Windows + P and select Extend. If the monitor still does not appear, go to Settings > System > Display > Multiple displays > Detect.
01Check whether Windows sees the screen
Section linkTurn the monitor on and select the input that matches the port you plugged into, such as HDMI or DisplayPort. In Display settings, check whether a separate numbered display appears. If Windows sees it, use Extend and Identify to confirm the layout. If Detect finds nothing, test the connection.
02Test one monitor, one cable and one port
Section linkDisconnect the dock, splitter and any other external monitors. Connect the problem monitor directly if you have a compatible port. Try a known working cable or another video output, changing one part at a time. If the monitor works directly but fails through the dock, check the dock and its connection to the PC. If it also fails on another computer, test the monitor and its input.
03Check the limits of the dock and USB-C port
Section linkLook up the exact PC and dock models. Check which USB-C port carries video, whether the cable supports the connection and how many displays the setup supports. If each monitor works alone but one disappears when both are plugged in, check the manufacturer's display limits. An HDMI splitter sends the same picture to its outputs. Extending the desktop across separate screens requires independent display signals.
04If it worked before, check the graphics driver
Section linkSave your work and restart the PC. If the setup still fails, try Windows + Ctrl + Shift + B to reset the graphics driver. If the issue started immediately after a display driver update, open Device Manager > Display adapters, open the adapter's Properties and check the Driver tab for Roll Back Driver. If the option is unavailable, look up the supported driver for your PC model.
05Confirm both screens work after reconnecting
Section linkUse Identify to see a number on each screen. Drag the displays in Settings so the layout matches your desk, select Apply and move the pointer between them. Reconnect any other dock accessories one at a time if the problem began with the dock.
