Start with the browser's downloads list and open the saved location from there. Searching a presumed Downloads folder can miss a file saved somewhere else.
01Use the browser's record
Section linkIn desktop Chrome, open the menu and choose Downloads. Find the item by its name or download time, then use Show in folder or the corresponding location control. The list is a record: an entry does not guarantee that a file still exists after you move or delete it. Check whether the download completed before looking for a finished file.
02Check Android and iPhone separately
Section linkOn Android, open the device's file manager and look under Downloads or recent files. The app may be called Files or My Files. On iPhone or iPad, open Files, choose Browse, then check Downloads under iCloud Drive and On My iPhone or On My iPad. Safari's download location can differ from the folder you expected.
03Search without losing the original
Section linkSearch for a distinctive part of the name and sort recent files by date. Check another browser or account if that was where you downloaded it. A preview in a messaging or media app is not necessarily a separately saved file; use that app's download or export function if needed.
04If it is still missing
Section linkReturn to the original, trusted source and download again only after checking for an incomplete transfer or a changed location. Keep both copies until you identify the correct one. Avoid cleanup utilities and bulk deletion while you are still locating the file.
