Open the source Gmail account on a computer. Go to Settings → See all settings → Forwarding and POP/IMAP or Forwarding. Make sure the destination confirmed the verification link. Then check whether you enabled forwarding for all new mail or only for messages that match a filter.
01Finish verification and save the forwarding choice
Section linkIf you only added the address, open the verification email in the destination mailbox and follow its link. Go back to the source account and refresh Gmail. For all new mail, select the verified destination in the Forwarding section and save changes at the bottom. Keep Gmail’s copy in the inbox while testing so you can compare both mailboxes. If the forwarding option is missing on a work or school account, ask your administrator whether forwarding is allowed.
02Send a new message you can recognize
Section linkFrom a separate account, send the source address a short test message with a distinctive subject. Check that it reaches the source and is outside Spam. Then look for that subject at the destination, including its spam folder. Gmail does not forward messages it classifies as spam, and enabling forwarding does not send old mail already in your inbox.
03If only certain mail should forward, check the rule
Section linkIn Gmail settings, open Filters and Blocked Addresses and inspect the rule’s criteria and destination. Search the source mailbox using the same criteria to see whether a missed message matches. For example, a rule that checks the sender of the original email may miss a reply from a different sender. Edit the rule if needed and test it with a fresh message that meets the updated criteria.
