Google Calendar events not showing? Check the web and phone

The short answer

Open calendar.google.com in a browser and check the event under the same Google account you use on your phone. If it appears on the web, check that the calendar is visible in the Google Calendar app. If the event is missing on the web too, check where it was saved and look in that calendar’s Trash on a computer.

On the web, switch to the Google account that owns the calendar or has access to it. Make sure the calendar is visible, then check the date or search for the event. If you can still open the event on the device where you created it, look at its calendar name. An event saved to a calendar outside that Google account may never have reached Google Calendar on the web.

02If only the Google Calendar app is missing it

On Android or iPhone, open the app’s Menu and make sure the box beside the calendar is checked. Confirm that the phone is online and update the app if an update is available. Google says the app only syncs past events up to a year. For older events, use the web version. These steps apply to the Google Calendar app. Apple Calendar uses a separate sync setup.

03Refresh the phone after checking visibility

Section link

On Android, choose Menu → Refresh, and check that Calendar is enabled in the phone’s Google account sync settings. For a calendar you created other than the primary one, also check its Sync option in the app’s settings. On iPhone, quit and reopen the Google Calendar app. If the missing event still appears on one device only, copy its details before clearing app data or removing an account.

04Look in Trash for a deleted event

Section link

On a computer, open Google Calendar and choose Settings → Trash. Deleted events that went to Trash stay there for 30 days unless removed earlier. Check the right calendar and choose Restore if the event is there and you have permission. For a missing invitation on someone else’s calendar, ask the organizer to confirm the invitation and the email address they used.
