Click Undo immediately after sending in Gmail. The longest cancellation period in desktop Gmail is 30 seconds. Once the window closes, Gmail’s Undo Send cannot recall the message.
01Use the Undo prompt as soon as it appears
Section linkLook at the lower-left corner of Gmail in your browser just after you click Send. When the Message sent notice appears, click Undo. If you missed it and the message went out, send a short correction when useful. For example, say which attachment the recipient should use and include it in your follow-up.
02Give yourself more time on future sends
Section linkIn desktop Gmail, open Settings, then See all settings. Find Undo Send and choose a cancellation period of 5, 10, 20 or 30 seconds. Scroll to the bottom and click Save Changes. To check the setting without involving anyone else, send a harmless note to yourself and look for the Undo prompt.
03Check Scheduled if you set a send time
Section linkIf you used Schedule send and the email is still pending, open Scheduled in the left sidebar. Open the message and click Cancel send. Gmail returns it to Drafts, where you can edit or delete it. For a future email that needs a final review, set a send time far enough ahead to give yourself time to reopen it.
