Open a message from a sender you trust and look for Display images below. If Gmail asks before loading images in most messages, check Settings → See all settings → General → Images. Choose Always display external images and save if you want them to load by default.
01If Gmail asks before showing images
Section linkChoose Display images below in a message you trust if you want to keep the per-message setting. Gmail may still ask about suspicious messages even when you allow external images by default. Leave images hidden if the sender or message looks suspicious.
02If one message still shows a blank spot
Section linkOpen a different message that you know contains an image. If that image loads, ask the first sender to resend the picture as an attachment. A test in another message helps you decide whether to spend time on account or browser settings.
03If images are missing from several messages
Section linkOpen the same message in a different supported browser, or in a private window and sign in to the same account. If it works there, return to your usual browser and turn off extensions individually, reopening Gmail after each change. If the problem persists in that profile, clearing its cache and cookies is a later step and can sign you out.
