If one important site keeps losing its place, open Edge Settings → System and performance → Performance. Under Always keep these sites active, add the site’s full address and retest. A faded tab that resumes where you left off is normal.
01Watch what happens when you return
Section linkEdge can pause an idle tab and resume it with its content still available. If the browser discards the tab from memory, opening it again requires a reload. A page that asks you to sign in again may also have a session timeout set by the site.
02Test the site exception
Section linkAdd the site under Always keep these sites active. Open the page you use, switch away, and return after the interval when you normally notice the problem. Leave the exception limited to the sites where you need it so Edge can still free resources elsewhere.
03Check memory when several sites reload
Section linkClose unused tabs and save work in other apps before closing those apps. Try the same pages again with fewer things open. For a closer look, open edge://discards in Edge and check whether the affected tab shows as discarded after you see the problem.
04Narrow down a one-site problem
Section linkIf a single site returns you to its sign-in screen even with the exception, check its session or inactivity settings. On a managed work browser, ask your administrator about the sleeping-tab policy if the controls are unavailable.
