Open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Mouse. Under Scrolling, change Scrolling direction. Choose Down motion scrolls down to move down the page when you roll the wheel toward yourself, or choose Down motion scrolls up for the reverse behavior.
01Try the setting on a long page
Section linkAfter changing the menu, open a page with enough content to scroll in either direction. Start away from the top and bottom, then roll the wheel toward yourself and see which part of the page comes into view. Change the setting back if it feels wrong. Lines to scroll at a time changes the distance, not the direction.
02Use touchpad settings for finger gestures
Section linkIf the problem happens when you slide your fingers on the laptop touchpad, open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Touchpad instead. Look for the scrolling controls there. Microsoft documents touchpad reversal separately on Surface. Try the mouse wheel and the touchpad on the same page to see which input needs changing.
03If the mouse option is missing
Section linkCheck that you are on the Mouse page and that Windows Update is current. If the option is still absent, check whether your mouse maker offers a supported utility with its own wheel direction setting. If only one app scrolls differently, compare it with a browser before changing the Windows setting again.
