Google Slides audio not playing when you share the deck?

The short answer

If the deck opens for someone but the audio only plays for you, check sharing on the embedded audio file in Google Drive. Give the intended listener access to that file as well as the deck, or ask its owner to do so. Then have the listener open the deck with the account you shared it with and try playing the audio.

01Check the exact audio file in Drive

Ask the person to open the audio file directly in Drive using the same account they used to open the slides. If Drive asks them to request access, share the exact file used in the deck with that account. If you see a permissions suggestion when sharing the slides, review it before confirming. Keep access limited to the people or group who need it.

02Test playback as the person presenting

Section link

Open the original shared deck in slideshow mode under the presenter’s account. Go to the slide with audio and try the playback control. If the file plays directly in Drive and the slide also plays it when started manually, the account has access. If the remaining issue is that it doesn’t start by itself, check the audio start setting.

03When the audio does not play for you either

Section link

Try the file itself in Drive first. Google Slides can insert MP3 and WAV audio stored in Drive. If the original is unavailable or you need to replace it, upload a supported file you can play, add it with Insert → Audio, and test the new file’s access and playback with the presenter.
