Google Meet screen sharing not working? Check the button and the share picker

The short answer

In the meeting, click Present now. If the button is disabled, ask the host whether participants can share. If the picker opens but the window is missing, bring that window out of the minimized state and try again, or choose A tab in Chrome for content already open there.

01If Present now is disabled

Ask the host to check whether participants are allowed to share their screen. For a work or school meeting, a Google Workspace administrator can also restrict screen sharing. Compare with a meeting where the host confirms that you are allowed to present before changing permissions on your computer.

02If the window is missing from the picker

Open the window and make sure it is not minimized. Return to Meet, choose A window, select the window you want, and click Share. If the content is a webpage in Chrome, try sharing just that tab. Check the preview or ask another participant to confirm they see the intended content.

03If you get a screen capture error

On a Mac, check whether macOS allows the browser to record the screen. If you dismissed the system prompt in Chrome, open System Settings → Privacy & Security and check the screen and system audio recording permission. After saving any work in Chrome, restart the browser fully, rejoin Meet, and try again.
