Tap a regular web link and a link to the site that keeps opening in the wrong app. If both open in the wrong browser, change your default browser. If only links to that site open in a different app, check that app’s link settings.
01Ordinary links open in the wrong browser
Section linkOn Pixel, open Settings → Apps → Default apps → Browser app. On Galaxy, open Settings → Apps → Choose default apps → Browser app. Pick the installed browser you want, then retry a regular link from another app.
02One website keeps opening its app
Section linkOn Pixel, go to Settings → Apps and choose the app that opens. Look under Open by default. If Clear default preferences is available, use it to clear the saved choice. When Android asks which app to use, choose Just once to test before making it the default. On Galaxy, look for Set as default in the app’s settings. If the app lists supported links, clear the unwanted website there or turn off Open supported links for that app. Menu labels can vary by Android version.
03One website goes to the browser instead of its app
Section linkOn Android 12 and later, ordinary web links go to the default browser unless Android has approved an app for that website. In the intended app’s default settings, turn on Open supported links and select the website if those controls are available. Test with a direct link to that site. A link through a different domain may take a different route.
04Check where the link starts
Section linkTry the same link from another app if it stays inside the first app’s own viewer. If you only need to open the page once, copy its web address and paste it into your preferred browser. If ordinary links work but a particular website still goes to the wrong place, note the source app and the link’s domain before contacting the app developer.
