Open a regular webpage in desktop Chrome. Open the three-dot menu and choose Bookmarks and lists → Show bookmarks bar. If the bar appears but a saved link is missing, look for the link in Bookmark Manager before changing any sync settings.
01Check the bar on a regular webpage
Section linkTest on a page you already have open rather than using only a new tab. On Windows or Linux, Ctrl + Shift + B toggles the bookmarks bar. On a Mac, use Command + Shift + B. The same shortcut hides the bar if it is already visible. If you want to see what state you are switching to, use the Chrome menu instead.
02Find a link that is missing from the bar
Section linkOpen the three-dot menu and choose Bookmarks and lists → Bookmark Manager. Search for a title or part of the web address. If the link is in a different folder, open it from there, or drag it to the Bookmarks bar folder if you want it on the bar. This changes where the bookmark is filed. The bar setting itself does not move or delete bookmarks.
03Check which Chrome profile you are in
Section linkIf you cannot find several familiar bookmarks in the manager, select the profile icon at the top right and switch to the profile you used to save them. Chrome keeps bookmarks for different profiles separate. For example, finding the link in your personal profile explains why it is absent from your work window. Confirm the profile and search again before removing anything.
